Default Question about how SSD Drives

I recently installed a SSD drive for my friends computer. It was a intel based SSD drive i connected using the Sata Ports on his mother board.

I remember it was listed at 100MB Read and Write which to me was great.

How ever how come I see this and other drives like it that are 120gb SSD drives with 280mb read and write?

Do these types of cards require a certain SSD card installed to get those speeds? Or do I connect through the SATA port as well?

My computer I want to do this install on is about 1 and a haf years old now. Just wanted to double check before I spend cash on this.

Thank You!
Mathew

Are you sure it was 100MB? Mechanical drives often surpass that.

Most SSDs are either SATA or PCI Express.

Also, yeah... 100MB isnt that much, especially since intel ones are usually great performing
