I see that you have put a blurb on the main pages of your old sites stating you have moved. You may want to have the page automatically re-direct within a say 5-10 second interval, to pass visitors to your new sites?

That is not exactly the way I am currently going to do it. I want to forward all forum requests as well, so that i don't kill any old links. Also, having it meta refresh is bad, as it breaks the back button.

Uhm yeah. No meta redirect. It's called a http redirect, which means that back buttons work.

The fact is, that a meta redirect is evil. w3.org has a good document about it, here: http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/reback , also see the link to the Top-10 mistakes.
