No there is not, but with FireBird you can stop banners from loading at all.

You could make a transistion page that would pre-load the banners.

This would force banners to load up first. I'd rather they load up last so viewers won't be turned away early. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Okay, I missed that "last" part. You could pre-load your images then, and the text should be fast. I'm guessing you could load the banners as hidden/invisible, then make them visible on a timer, but I wouldn't be the one to ask about the code itself. If all else fails, just host the banners on a really slow server

Unfortunately the banner exchanges host the banners.
To do it myself, I'd need to load banners on a separate page which leads to problems above. Does anyone know how to code loading delay???

Pre-load images
http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/preloadimage.htm Timer http://www.intranetjournal.com/ix/msg/38670.html If the banners are actual images then you could do a simple image switch, otherwise you'll have to execute the banner script from within the pause. You should make sure the lack of banners when the page first loads doesn't force any of the contents to shift when they do load. |
