It depends what you want to make transparent.
you can make a div transparent by using this for example Code:
<div style="background-color: transparent;">blah blah</div> |

I want the background colour for my little Google search box for my active desktop to be transparent...so it doesn't cover the image...
The part of the coding with the background colour is --- bgcol : '######'; --- I just change the numbers to 'transparent'? |

unless your entire desktop is an active desktop, it is not possible as the box for google is similar to an Internet Explorer window, making it impossible to mkae transparent. (though through a load of reshacking it may be possible to make everything in the box transparent)
