Half-Life 2 Demo Out!
Posted by Electronic Punk on the 20th December 2004 at 7:59pm 7 comments

A free demo of Half-Life 2 will be released later today. Featuring some of the amazing digital actors and physical gameplay that has made Half-Life 2 the leading contender for Game of the Year 2004, the demo takes players through some of the early levels of the game and later transports them to the area of the game known as Ravenholm. The demo will debut on ATI.com, and requires a Steam account to install.

The Half-Life 2 Demo will be releaed today at 1:00 p.m. PST so if for some reason it hasn't made it onto your PC this is your chance to check it out. I am not quite sure why it is being launched on ATI.com - perhaps something daft like you have to click a steam:// link on ati.com for it to start downloading? Anyway, definatly worth a look if you don't have it - unlike the original demo, it doesn't look like anything new has made it in there. Even to play the demo you will need a Steam account which is also odd!

UPDATE: The demo has now been released.

Well, I just tried and I have to say I like it. I guess I am going to end up buying it!

Anyone else having problems trying to get it to run in offline mode? I have to start the game then manually disconnect from the net....

i remember a time when demos came out before the release of the actual game. and you paid for them.
