Just curious what operating systems people out there have used/installed over there years (or months/weeks/days!?) of computing, and which they thought was the best?

Mine are (in no order) :

    Win 3.11
    Win 95
    Win 95b
    Win 98
    Win 98 SE
    Win M.E. (YECK! die!)
    Win NT 4
    Win 2000 Pro
    Win XP Pro (currently installed)
    RedHat 7.0
    RedHat 7.3
    Mandrake 8.0
    Mandrake 8.1 Beta
    Mandrake 8.1
    Mandrake 8.2
    Gentoo Linux
    NetBSD
    Slackware Linux 8.1
    FreeBSD

I'm sure there's more, just can't remember right now, Some operating systems i've never owned and would like to try are Windows 1/1.01 and Windows Memphis (Win97)
My personal fav has to be Slackware, but for functionality, windows wins hands down, so XP has to be the best o/s ive used.

I've never ran an apple o/s, the first family PC was almost an apple but we opted for a 100mhz 8mb 486 instead :p

I've used apple o/s before, just never had one installed (it would prove quite a challenge on a PC for a start :p ) but i have vowed that my next box will be some form of mac!

I did touch Red Hat Linux 6.5 once on a friends computer, and I got confused when I first saw it.

i think redhats just a name that people atuomatically assocciate with linux, which is either good marketing on RedHat's behalf, or bad marketing on other ditro's behalf (altho other's dont "market" there distro as such)

true, when I first heard of Linux, all I heard about was Red Hat, but last year (or was it 2 years ago) is when I heard there was different linuxes out there besides Red Hat.
