ok I have two machine both amd's 1000, both have the micronet etherfast 10/100 cards (utp only), they are connected together by a crossover cable.

the system was working, then installed IIS and the thing failed (not sure what happened, so started from fresh).

noth card have been setup manually in networking

xp 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0
me 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0

cannot get these to ping at all, thought one of the card may have gone bye bye, so ran the netsetup program on the network card setup disk to do diagnostics all fine, even the testing between to cards with the initiator/ responder works 100%, so the cards will talk to each other, but as soon as load up the OS's nothing. does anyone have any ideas to this.

In desperation Paul

for some strange reason you have to run the XP network wizard even if you manually set up your network.

Give that a try.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
