XP Funked up!!!!

Ok... I have a very big problem and im looking for some advice..

Yesterday i was working in Acid creating some Music when XP all of a sudden crashed. The reason i dont know but the BSOD poped up and started counting down to a physical memory dump.

I didnt think that this was a problem as i have seen this before. I powered off the PC and turn it back on... everything was booting normally until another BSOD popped up and gave me a crazy error number as below:-

*** stop :0x00000024(0x001902f8,0xf9e686fc, 0xf9e683fc, 0xf997c411

*** stop :ntfs.sys address f997c411 base at f990e000,datestamp 3b7dc5d0

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?? could it be a hardware error or a registry error?

I have perform a full surface scan on the harddrive and there are no errors. i have also tried repairing the installation from the XP cd but it starts looking for the xp installation and the same address comes up again!!

Please help....

oofunk, does it crash permamently now at regular intervals when you enter WinXP? as if so it sounds as though somehow the ntfs.sys got corrupted damaged or something that tried to call the system file corrupts the computer.

There are two things I can suggest - Firstly see if you can do a system restore to a point before XP went insane - you can do that by restarting the computer, holding down F8 on the keyboard and selecting the booting into safe mode option and then by pressing no when you get the box to go directly to the system restore panel. You should be able to select a restore point to bring your computer back to a workable state.

Secondly if this does not work then it sounds as though the ntfs file table has been corrupted - either try and use some type of emergency recovery disk from a disk management software program that you have or you may have to resort to reformatting and reinstalling - although I would only suggest this as a final resort.

feel free to mail me for more help or try logging onto the #xperience channel if you have more problems, hopefully what I have suggested will solve it

My computer will not boot in XP full stop.... it gets to the moving blue bar section then about 2 secs after it throws up the BSOD with that same code each time.

I have tried booting in safe mode only for it to do the same again!! So i cant do a system restore.

If the ntfs file table is corrupt does this mean the information is lost?? if i can install say ME on to a secondry drive i hope i can copie the info across and then do a reformat and reinstall.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
