    1. you can get rid of parts like netmeeting and MSN using the add and remove windows components in the add and remove programs part of the control panel. Some items like windows messenger would require you to unhide them be removing the "hide" statement next to them in the sysoc.inf file. although unhiding some programs still doesn't mean you can un-install them

    2. You can remove the little games, MSN, netmeeting, and a few other items

    3. as for shutdown you might want to locate the waittokillservicetimeout in the registry under local machine, syste, controlset001, control and set it to a low number like 2000

    hope this helps :)

If you have a Nvidia video card you should disable the Nvidia driver helper service. It's in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services.

I've saved about 20meg by deleting a few folders.

    1) Windows/Help/Tours

    2) Windows/System32/oobe/Images

There's alot of other stuff you dont need, so far I've trimmed XP
    back to 700megs.
