XP 1800+ and temps ?

Catch23,

I usually buy oem. I guess it always boils down to trust. So far, internet stores haven't gained my trust. I've run into a lot of defective product that has been purchased on-line.

For the most part I shop at my local CompuCare (www.compucare.com) unless I can find a better price. Personnally, I'm willing to spend a little extra for quality. I would be willing to purchase on-line if I could find a site that has been around for a while and has a good reputation.

i will sear by newegg they are the absolute best when it comes to prices and you cant beat them for shipping. it is usually 5-6 dollars depending on product for fedex 3 day saver.

The Flower is a quality heatsink.

The Copper version has immense heat transfer and the sheer amount of surface area leads to good heat dissipation. Usually you should have just one low power/low noise fan sitting next to it so that a nice cool breeze is always going through the fins though. It can handle it without quite nicely.

It costs just far too much though =P

My heatsink is fairly cheap US$30-$35 if i'm not mistaken and only about US$10 for the fandaptor and fan. Less noise, more cfm, more sanity =)

Don't get a Dragon Orb... they are VERY loud and just can't do the job for these chips.

Get a Volcano 7 or my Coolermaster HHC-001. Heat pipe technology owns =)

Thanx to UofEEE & Tbird94sc !

Thanx to UofEEE & Tbird94sc ! :)

I changed my order from ThermalTake's Dragon Orb 3 to Tt's Volcano 7. I will get it in few days. I do hope this will do its job and ease my 'fear' of high temps...

To Tbird94sc:
according to your sayings, when Asus Probe reads 63°C, I should understand as 51°C (which is quite good, no) ?
How did place the diode ?

I know you have a problem if Your CPU goes to 60 Celsius, I have an 1800+ with a Volcano 7+ and I run at 38 idle and 43 on a full system load after 6 hours of hard use. And I don’t even have any extra case fans or any other extreme cooling devices.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
