windows XP repair

if Repairing wXP (when bootet from installation CD) - what exatlly does it change? and do i have to reinstall any programs, and restore some setting (officeXP behavior, network, etc)

you shouldn't have to re-install all your software...


what the re-pair function does (now i'm not a MS Tech, but have run the Repair b4)

is...

Restores all System dll's and drivers to the original (from the cd)
it resets most of the default settings...

it does keep your settings.. and your registry settings.. so you shouldn't have to re register programs...


if you have system restore on (default is ON in pro (don't know about home) )
it will use those settings...

otherwise it uses the ones on the CD...
