Hi. Is there a way that I can backup my registered window key since I am about to re-install my OS since it has been malfunctioning lately and I had already exceeded the installation number. I don't want to call customer support again. Thanks.:nervous:

What you need to do is backup the XP activation files.

Google for backup activation files and you will find how to do it.

You can use this keyfinder if you want your key -

All you need other than that is to back up these two files:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WPA.DBL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WPA.BAK

Once you have XP installed again, boot into safe mode and copy those two files into the SYSTEM32 and reboot.

Everything you wanted to know about activation backup. There's a link to a Windows key reader also. The artical is a must read. The really good stuff is near the end.
