Ok, i have a Compaq Presario 2100 series laptop running XP home edition. For some reason whenever i start up the laptop, it loads windows, and it seems like it's running fine, but if you try to do something like open IE or browse folders in your computer, it doesn't do anything for about a minute or two. When that time runs out, the sound that normally plays when windows boots will play, and the computer will run just fine. It's almost as if Windows is loading a lot faster than it should. is there any way to fix this?

Actually I sounds like your in need of a defrag. You may also have a corrupted sound file.

Correcting System Hang at Startup

If your system hangs about 2 or 3 minutes at startup, where you can't access the Start button or the Taskbar, it may be due to one specific service (Background Intelligent Transfer) running in the background. Microsoft put out a patch for this but
it didn't work for me. Here's what you do:

1. Go to the control panel/admin tools/.
2. Go to the 'Services' tab, find the 'Background Intelligent Transfer' service, disable it, apply the changes & reboot.

Also if not on a network disable 'workstation' at the same place as above.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
