Well don't laugh but I luved my zx81 with 16k r.a.m. pack added on, loved playing pacman in b&w on it and writing my own programs also.

Acorn electron and BBC, I luved too. Yeah I know they ran in basic, can only dream of what could have been if a certain person didn't cheif ideas from another company!

If windows had never come to be the dominant OS, the industry would have been more propietary hardware/OS driven. i.e. You would have dell with intel & windows, you would have IBM with powerpc's and BEOS. You'd have apple with all of its proprietary black box components, etc. Basically the pc hardware and software industry would have looked more like the current console industry with each manufacturer partnered with proprietary software/software titles etc. Are we better or worse off now? hard to tell. Theres a huge list of pros and cons, i.e. prices, virus vulnerability, software/hardware standardizations, no custom built pcs or overclocking etc.
