Windows 7 Beta 1 Free?

rotjong: who says you NEED MSDN? lol

If M$ starts bitching cause people are bootlegging a beta... they've got some serious issues. If anything, i think they should be WELCOMING it. why not let the masses try out a new OS WITHOUT having to pay an insane amount of money for their service? Not only would they have a much larger user base for finding bugs, but it could also have the ability to have people sold on buying the OS when it hits store shelves. It's already worked for me!

I'm not the bootlegging sort even if Microsoft doesn't mind. I'll just have to wait until there is some sort of public beta or something.

Public beta should be soon - I think MS is excited about all the early interest measured by all the seeds and leachers :)

Yeah, I've talked to a friend in the meantime who has MSDN access. According to the person the public beta is probably in a few weeks, anyway. :)

Most reports are January 5th, or at the latest at CES during 8-11 of Jan.

This thing is going to put Vista by the waste side. I can see it serpassing xp as the favorite.

is it really that different from vista?

i mean, i hope it will get the short-sighted vista critics to change their minds about xp being the ultimate OS, but to be honest, to me it looks like an improved/recycled version of vista

As I understand it, Windows 7 is built using the same exact kernel from Windows 20008 Server. This, IMHO, would make it Vista with graphical tweaks and fixes.

I have noticed a lot of simularities with vista as well. But, it runs better, which is a good thing.

Using the last build before 7000 and I love it. It just feels so much more robust than Vista.

I know what you mean, liner. This whole thing just feels better.

well.... it does have similarities with Vista (which is quite understandable. not many OS's DON'T at least have something in common with their predecessor). What's surprising is the amount of work they seem to be putting into it. Would they have done this with Vista, it could have been more popular off the bat than it was (although the only thing dragging it's popularity down were the squalls of people too damn lazy to even TRY to get it working. they'd see a "display driver has stopped responding but has been recovered" message and freak the f*ck out).

It's just funny. Looks great. Runs great. And on top of that, even the tiny little features that are easily noticed make it SO much more efficient and fun to use than Vista and XP combined.

Hrmm.... I wonder where they store the login info for our MSDN account... I'm sure it's around somewhere. *goes looking*

I was thinking the same thing lol. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if this was vista SP# with a different name. Either way, I am liking it. Just like I like vista.

Same, too many people talking down. Not trying, I love Vista.

That is the problem, bman. Most of the people who talk trash about have never used it.

well yeah.... we knew that from pretty much the start. That.... and the fact that MS did the whole Windows Mojave bit. Pretty sure if anybody used Vista, they'd know wtf it looked like.

lol, so true, so true.

I will be buying this when it comes out. I am like really loving it. I don't want to take it out of my machine, but I will eventually have to :(

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
