what video codec breakthrough?

I don't think it's special at all that they've developed a codec capable of "tv-broadcast" quality video in 1.1Mbps. Divx, even 3.11 alpha release, was way better than that with almost DVD-quality at 850kbps(though some scenes looked DVD-quality, action seems would get blocky) and it improved even more until now with divx 5.0. I don't see what the big news is about.

but can divx stream?

from what I can remember it can't (try playing a broken download) as you have to rebuilt the index or use one of the players that I guess do real-time syncing to bypass the index. (needs more computing power)
