What Hard Drive?

  1. I am looking for a 80gig, 7200rpm drive, with both quality and a great price. What manufacturer? Stores? eBay? Thanks.

I would say Maxtor, Western Digital, or IBM (Max and WD are one and the same, the WD drives are a little louder)

That's basically what you're looking for, from WD, it's only ATA 100, but most ATA 133 80 GB drives I've seen from all companies are $200-$300

I have to agree with catch23 on this one. I've had 2 WD drives go bad. I now have a Quantum Fireball and haven't had any problems.

I've never owned a WD myself, but some of the guys I know like them, so I thought I'd put it out there, I currently have an (un-locked) IBM 40 GB 7200 ATA 100 Deskstar...and I love it, never has failed, I think my next will be a Maxtor though, as I've heard IBM's quality control went way down...
