    hey :)
    ok... here we go
currently have USB mouse and scanner attached.
every now and then (usually once a day) the mouse stops working, and then the 'usb thing detected sound' is heard and it works again.. then the next time this happens, it stops. but doesn't start working again. only works again after a reboot..
    any ideas? previous experiences?

I know someone who had a similar problem... He uninstalled the USB Root Hub from Device Manager and let it reinstall itself - it sorted his problem out.

Alternatively, check for power management on the USB device settings.

I use a mains operated USB hub and have similar problem if the USB mouse is connected to the same usb PCI card as the hub.
Band width is always a problem.
Try a separate usb output on the PC if poss for the mouse.
The 127 theoretical item limit has always been fanciful when usb printers and scanners etc with other items are involved on a system.

the option 'allow the computer to turn this device off to save power' was selected, i'll see if that had anything to do with it

Bad Mouse - borrow and swap with another.

Bad Cable - comes with mouse see above.

Bad USB connector - plug mouse into another jack.

Interrupt conflict - check under control panel (or better yet sandra) what is what interrupt. try and get the mouse alone.

    thanks leejend
it's not the mouse.. works fine on other pc
nott he connector, all usb ports do it ... could it be the actual usb ports them selves?
    or the conflict
how do you check for a conflict in sandra.. and fix it?
