User Accounts - Problems!

Discussion in 'Windows Desktop Systems' started by the guitarman, Mar 13, 2002.

  1. I am having difficulty running certain programs in limited user accounts. They run fine in my (administrator account), but not in my kids limited accounts. One of the programs is Outlook Express 6, which I would have thought would have worked fine under XP. It loads and runs fine in my (admin) account, but wont load in limited accounts. Also have the same problem with certain game software, which displays the same problem. I have been told this is due to deficienies in the setup program of the particular software. I just want to know is there an easy solution, to enable me to get programs to run in ALL accounts.

    Help much appreciated.

To get the programs to run in all accounts can sometimes be a pain. You have to edit your local polices and such and sometimes edit your security policies since whether or not the programs run depends on what type of access the programs have been made for.

This is due to the fact that since most games were made back when most users used 98 and such for gaming and not NT, newer games made for xp usually don't have these problems

Another thing you can do that is a pain is create a new user group and specify it's policies so that you don't have to choose from the default XP, admin or limited....but be forewarned it's a bit involved to do that :(
