Turn off hard disks

In: power option properties> power schemes
there's an option to Turn off hard disks after x amount of time... If i have something running that requires a significant amount of cpu and i plan to leave if running unatended for several hours, am i better to set the option to Never for the time being?

I don't use that option but I thought it would not turn off/power down unless it was in an inactive state. So if it is doing something it should be OK. I think.
