Trying to network with Firewire

Ok, making progress... my laptop can see my desktop, but it's asking for a password... how to I control/disable that?

Since they are both running XP pro you should only have to type in the passwords once, as long as you check the remember password box.

I don't remember what the password is though? Where did I set it in Windows? I tried using my logon password but my desktop isn't accepting that.

You have to use a logon and password that are setup on the machine you are trying to access. You can create users accounts for just this purpose by using either the users applet in control manager or the local users and groups in the computer management console.
