Toshiba PDA & Outlook Mail Sync Problem

my buddies Toshiba PDA is having problems syncing e-mail with his (http) Hotmail account. Outlook will get the e-mail, calendar, ect. but when the PDA syncs up, it only wants to accept e-mails from POP3 accounts...

Any work arounds you guys know about?
