I am trying to disable- TkBellExe "realsched.exe -osboot", SpybotSD TeaTimer (removed program) and QuickTime Task qttask.exe - atboottime. Each time I disable (uncheck) they renable themselves. How to I stop them from re enabling themselves?

the answer lies within (Guru says)....

your registry (Geek speaks)....

If you think they persist you should meet iTunes and company - just so that you know.

Sorry not to be more helpful, but this is more the voice of experience you seek than guru-dom (whatever that is) - Googling removal and the items may prove fruitful - sorry again not to give direct advice.

Try going into the Quicktime settings through the control panel, under browser plugin
Uncheck Quick Time system tray icon

I don't use the other one, you are on your own.

You don't happen to have AdAware 6.0 Pro do you? If so, the Ad-watch program that is included will allow you to prevent these entries from re-enabling themselves.

Also, you could delete the keys altogether from the registry here:
Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version and
Current User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version
- look in the following folders: Run, RunOnce, RunOnceEx

Good luck! :)

For QT, delete the qttask.exe in the
C:\Program File\Quicktime
folder, and then remove the startup item in msconfig. It does not hurt the program at all.

For RP, delete the entire Update_OB folder in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real
and the realsched.exe in msconfig. This should also remove the annoying message center from popping up.

Just go into the progs and disable any auto update checks you see. real has a coulple of them ..

there is a free program called Codestuff Starter, that will let you disable programs at boot without having to delete them, you can also delete them if you like. it also lists processes , that give you more information than task manager. Have a look here http://codestuff.netfirms.com/download.shtml :)

where are you "unchecking" them?

You could try using the msconfig utility (start/run/"msconfig")
You could go into the registry (mentioned in an earlier post)
You could rename/delete the offending files (as has been mentioned in an earlier post)
You could use a program like black ice/network ice/etc.. that does application protection and prevent the programs from loading.. (yes, a major kludge but it does work)

hmm.. be creative.. where there is a will, there is a way..

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
