There are OTHER operating systems??

I have a second, older computer. I am planning to work/reformat it soon, as soon as i can get another moniter. How do i install drivers with a new OS?? How do i make my cd drive( read-slowx), video card (nvidia riva 8meg) etc work??? *insert clueless smiley here*

Well, i suppose i did ask, didnt i?

:D

Seriously though, i have been tempted to try out Linux, but, what about support for hardware and so on, I mean can i still play games on it? Or is it only good for staging servers and hacking...

What im trying to say is, what the hell would i use it for?

hmmm....
whats rootlinux?! new distro or some kind?
haven't heard of it before....
commons are redhat,slack,*bsds
what's so good about it?! care to clarify a bit for me?! )

I know of an OS that that begins with a Q...damn cant remember the full name.

Note: BSD is not Linux.

Let's count some OS:s (there are more):
Windows (you know them :))
Linux (countless variants (distributions))
BSD (several variants)
Unix (several variants)
HPUX
QNX
IBM PCDOS (like MSDOS, just different)
BeOS

Other platforms than x86:
MacOS
AmigaOS

and so on...

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
