Telling XP the drive you installed from has changed.

I admit mucking around with some settings to make my HD's appear at the top of my directory tree and the cd-roms last. I now have the problem of trying to run sfc /scannow and it refuses to recognise the XP cd in the cd-rom. I remember in WIn98 you could change the registary and chnage the drive name you did your install from if you added another device, can this be done in XP and how and where, TIA.

I think there is an option in Tweak-Xp or youcould just search the reg for Z:\i386\ etc.

Search and replace in the registary doesn't work, it isn't stored there from what I can see. TweakXp is the devil for me, I ain't putting that back on again.

i dont remember exactly the menus to go through, but in your control panel, the menu is something having to do with administrator access/privilages or something of the sort.

the menu you want is computer management. from there you can change the drive letters of any hard drive, cdrom, etc.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
