Even when my PC is idle and I have no programs running on it, the task manager, processes tab lists about 20 items (processes) that are active (e.g. IAMAPP.exe, WINLOGON.exe, SERVICES.exe).

Are all these processes necessary? are there any that one can "end" in order to reclaim more memory or processing power??

thanks

the majority of processes started at boot are required for windows to run, although some will just be un-nessecary services.
take a look here for info about services and how to disable them.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
