    about 40 minutes we are locked into t-minus 9 minutes.
    But barring any mechanical things we are a go.

    Yep, turned on the local news now. I'll walk outside and watch it with my son. We are close enough to watch and hear it. It is an awesome sight!

    I would love to be able to watch that in person, quite luck you are.

    Anyone know of a live webcast or anything that I might be able to watch it on?

    You can even "feel" it on a calm day! I have seen almost every launch since 1995. About 3 minutes to go!

    So how far away from the launch point can you actually see the shuttle and the boosters while in flight?

    I am about 55 miles away and see it perfectly. That's 88 Km for you ferinners!
