Subscription Questions

I was mooching around the user CP looking to see if reps I had dished out were added (this was discussed once, looks like not implemented though) when I noticed there seems to be an option to pay a sub of ten bucks for a year of advert freedom from front page!

Does this money go to OSNN?

Is it preferable to the ad clicking that is sometimes talked of for revenue purposes?

Is it even active for OSNN? and does the subs only apply to OSNN, or is this a vBulletin thing?

I would seriously consider it - be nice to be able to have a trial panel to sample the effect though, maybe? And were I back in dial up hell I would not even be typing this - I would have tried my damndest to shell out already!

Yeah, it goes to OSNN, not Jelsoft (might be confusing that with removing the vBulletin copyright notice which we would have to pay for, but I have no issues leaving it there)

Forgotten what prompted me to add it to be honest, I was most likely playing with the conditional variables and thought I would see where it took me. Not something I would go for myself, as I always want OSNN to pay for itself.

But some people want it, I am very much against donations but can understand people not wanting to see adverts at work.

Just to be clear though, at the moment the frontpage still has adverts as it doesn't have these conditional variables in the code, so I still have to think of a way working around it - but when I do find out, it will be made available as the same purchase.

Also just a heads up that there is a bug in PHP 5.11 and vBulletin 3.5.3 (which we typically upgraded to yesterday) that causes any subscriptions to fail. So I need to make the changes manually, but will do so if I see any.

I'd consider this subscription service as well.
My only concern would be, how would it be any different that using some sort of ad-blocker to not see the ads vs paying to not see the ads? Any extra 'perks' to being a paid member besides the ads?
