soundcard probs please help

I seem to have a strange problem with my soundcard. I have a creative
soundblaster pci 128 on a wondows xp system. My problem is that when i try
to run a game or my system plays certain sounds the sound almost chirps
(best way to describe it?), it seems to chirp when information is being read
from the cd rom, but this is not always the case. I have tried no
acceleration to full acceleration, installed the latest drivers but to no
avail, also i have noticed that only in games the sound seems to be playing
too fast??? Any ideas?

Are you using any type of PCI harddrive controller? or is the sound board plugged into the first port next to your video board? if it is move it to another slot in either situation
