Liberals .. Plain and simple - I thought it was funny when they took tom and jerry off during the day, they claimed it was too violent for kids. They replaced it with what they call a least violent show "DragonBall Z". Some one tell me they were smoking something at the time they made that decision ..

BS like this has been going here in the states for years, the few ruin it for everyone. You cant even find classic cartoons anywere anymore, well maybe on late night adult swim or something but not in primetime. Its rediculous and bakes my brownies.

this is a pretty rediculous action...censoring cartoons...pretty funny

hey...from what I remember, betty boop was like pornography...I wonder those of you that think this is rediculous also think censoring betty boop is just a rediculous

    betty boob meets popeye,

    more betty boop

    just wondering

parents have to start parenting on their own.

however to think these kind of rediculous decisions are "liberal" is also rediculous, for instance here, you will find concervatives that want to prosecute hotels for offering pornography

    I'm not kidding, that's a true story

there are nuts that come from the left, nuts that come from the right...nuts that come from the middle

    there are nuts

people labeling the nuts "liberal" or "concervative" is just a one sided point of view...the nuts are all around us, some of them walk and talk liberal, some of them walk and talk concervative

Popeye the sailor man!!!! Best **** ever. He smokes as well, a pipe! If he does not smoke a pipe, he would not be the same. Same with lucky luke. He has to smoke.

As for censoring cartoons, how about we remove all the violence so that we don't have kids growing up thinking it is okay to physically hurt another human being, and bring guns to school as a way to solve a conflict.

As for the pornography, each their own is what I say. There should be no laws against watching pornography in hotel rooms or having it offered. That is ****ing bull****.

Say, 10, 15 years time, I really wonder what the next generation of children will be like. I mean, they will have zero exposure to sex, drugs and violence and when they reach the age of adults... I dont know? I think it will have greater negative effects.

I mean, how many questions are raised by children when they watch the teletubbies? why is that teletubby blue?

    Compared to:

questions raised as to why, say some character in a show, is getting drunk and smoking so much?

"they are blue because the fabric they are wearing is absorbing all of the light spectrum and reflecting back the blue wavelength, dear"

*child blinks as if to say wtf?*

"they are getting arrested because in the eyes of the law, its wrong to be drunk and disorderly"

    *child nods*

This is pc gone mad. Perhaps children out and about who see somebody smoking whilst waiting for a bus would be just as mentally scarred! :s

That's the thing though, the violence in these cartoons i.e Tom being axed through the skull isn't seen as a problem only the smoking.
Sorry PC brigade but I'd rather my son/daughter grew into a porn watching smoker than a violent, aggressive nutter.

Come on people lets face it in my day there was none of this pussy footing around kids and we turned out okay did we not? Yes I know what your all thinking :devious:

Before I start I want to say that I completely agree with everyone about censorship being total Bull****. I think its ridiculous and I do not agree, however I don't think its gonna go away. So while sitting here thinking about what the world might look like in 20 years I ask you this question.

In an unbiased and open minded fashion, do you think the world will be better of if the majority of people behaved as protected Innocent and naive citizens? Or if everyone is desensitized and everyone has been exposed to the most violent and raw images.

As much as I don't like the first possibility it might just be better..... ?

personally, I really wouldn't let my kids watch a tom and jerry, cause that's some sick stuff going on, but I would let them watch a betty boop cartoon

on the other hand, I do NOT want anyone censoring what my kids do or do not see, that's my job as a parent
