Sluggish XP...

For some time now, XP has been sluggish. When I right click the mouse, sometimes it takes around 3-4 seconds for the menu to show.

Sometimes clicking through folders has a delay of around 3-4 seconds and pressing delete on a file takes around 3-4 seconds for the delete dialog to appear.

What could be causing this?

I have already defragged my drives.

Mine used to do that until I converted back to FAT
:p

Could be any number of things. Background apps a registry full of junk are the first two that come to my mind. You can spend a lot of time trying to figure it out. Might just want to try a fresh install

right click on my computer>>>properties>>>advanced>>perfomance>>setting.
now uncheck what you think is not important.

anything you install recently?

list em and do try and reduce hit on memory...

3-4 seconds for your system is NOT good... :)

also run antivirus...

I did a full virus system scan with NSW 2003 and I have no viruses on my system.

I have no idea what could be causing this.

I have 320MB of RAM left too.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
