    i was just wondering what all these things are
    that you guys leave your computer running
    and it helps other people out???
    whats tha all bout?

    I don't have one running but I think seti is seaching for ET's. There are more note worthy ones. One is trying to find a cure for cancer.

    I leave Kazaa on, and set my uload limit to something very high, so that people can download from me. ( Sharing over 2000+ files )

    Actually, none of that. Well, maybe a few videos, not more then that. Most is DivX files, games, and mp3s.
     
  7. i usually share music but cant set upload more then 13. cuz then my download speed drops and browsing goes really slow :(
     
  8. I run SETI 24/7 on my works PC and on a dual processor Solaris box. Haven't found ET yet though. Of course, downloads do get run from time to time...

  12. i think that program just using your pc speed(some of it) i'm not entirly sure to help calculate some stuff?

    The programs use your idle cpu time to analyse data packets you download via their client. usually they have a screen-saver component as well
