Hey Everyone,
So I found my old monitor recently (the 1280X1024 LCD) and I was wondering what kind of adapter I would need to run all three of my monitors. I've been looking around and it appears I need a DisplayPort adapter. I just wanted to confirm this for my situation especially since I don't intend on gaming with more than 1 monitor.
My setup is:
(2) ATI 5770s in Crossfire
16gb 1600mhz Ram
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
Gigabyte 990 FXA UD3
The three monitors are: 22" 1080p, 20" 720p, 17 inch 1280x1024.
As it is right now, I have it set up so the 1080p is through dvi, the 720p is through the HDMI output on the 5770 converted to DVI, and the 17 inch is a vga so it would be done that way.
My Monitors are AOC e2243FW (DVI, VGA), Acer S201HL bd (DVI, VGA), and a Sharp 17" VGA only. So what type of displayport adapter will I need if I need one? Can I get away with one of the cheap dp to vga ones for $10 bucks to connect the 17 inch old monitor too. I don't care too much about super quality on the 17 inch since this setup will be used mostly for Excel Spreadsheets, Quickbooks, and a little web designing.
Also, would I be better off getting a DP to DVI adapter and using my DVI to VGA adapter to connect to my VGA monitor (if this even works) since I will most likely not buy another VGA monitor in the future (assuming future graphics cards require this whole bit of nonsense)
I'm looking for the cheapest possible solution that works. I already spent 30 bucks making a stand for the 3rd monitor (two go over top of my other two monitors) and I have free 2-day shipping at Amazon and Newegg and wouldn't mind buying off ebay. Really hate that having two cards I'm gonna need to buy a friggin adapter...
Thanks!
