Only if it's a non-fixed VR. Some fixed VR:s require two capacitors in order not to start oscillating (and generate more heat), but I've run VR:s without anything with good results. And yes, they do get warm. But you don't need to cool them so it won't affect the case temp or anything.Originally posted by XP Abuser
but its not a case of wiring it up you have to build a circuit with a few resisters and capacitors to actually tell the VR what voltage to regulate
