Replacing an Athlon with Athlon XP

Does anybody know if an AMD Athlon XP fits in a AMD Athlon motherboard? i have an ASUS Socket A A7V motherboard. I heard i may have some problems with the clock settings etc., but does anybody know if this is possible? thanks

well, technically, an athlon xp will fit... but it won't run at the right speed. athlon xp's run on a 266mhz bus and your board only supports a 200mhz bus. for instance, you could buy a an athlon xp 2100+ which normally runs at 1.73ghz (133x13)... but on your board it would only run at 1.3ghz (100x13).

the fastest 200mhz processor you could get would be an athlon 1.4ghz 200mhz fsb. exactly like the one i have, since our boards are based on the same chipset (kt133)

alright...thanks for that. looks like ill just wait a couple years until the 10ghz procs come out...cant be that long
