Removing the version from the desktop

Hi,

I _still_ run a beta version of WinXP and I would like to know how to get rid of the Windows XP ... on the bottom right hand corner of the desktop.

Last time I checked - All beta's (I was using one for several months) expire after 180 days...so you may want to look into that if you haven't already. As far as the text in the corner....don't ask me, it's prob in the registry

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value called 'PaintDesktopVersion' set the value to equal '1' to display the version.

Exit the registry, you may need to restart for the change to take effect.

Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: PaintDesktopVersion
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data: (0 = disable, 1 = enable)

Back Up your registry before making any changes

Thanks Allen

I also needed that tip ... works great, but i had to reboot for it to work

cheers

;)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
