See the attached....the ones i've marked off with red splodge aren't needed (Winamp no longer installed - see http://www.ntfs.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37819 !!!)

This is the current context menu for an MP3 file, how do i edit what is shown when right-clicking on one?

    Thanks!

    Registry keys to look at:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mp3file\shell
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mp3file\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\audio
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mp3\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

You can delete subkeys there. Or use ContextEdit.

It costs $14, but worth it if you use commands in the context menu but don't want the menu to be long.

For awhile after XP came out I was looking for a way to modify the context menu and gave up.

:) I remember posting a couple of times back on xp-erience and no-one ever had a clue back then.

sweet thanks... I'd love a tool because I'm lazy - but $14 bucks just to control the context menus seems a little high. I'd pay $5 I think.

    Thanks

Good call, yoyo! Save some money and delve into this :) If you're not familiar with how to get into the registry, go Start-->Run-->regedit
