Hi there
I am having a problem removing the "Windows old" folder as a result of a system reinstall.
I have juggled with the permissions but cannot gain full control to allow deletion. The size was 19GB but has been reduced to 7.6 Gb, leaving the main core of dlls etc.
Any ideas ?

Have you tried taking ownership of the folder and then trying to delete it?

The correct way to remove it is to use the Disk Cleanup utility (just type Disk Cleanup in the Start menu search box).

Make sure you pick the ""Files from all users on this computer" option when it asks you which files to clean. You should then see a checkbox for "Previous Windows installation(s)" - check that, run the cleanup tool, and you should be all set.

Thanks for all the assistance
I havd tried to take ownership of the whole folder ... but somehow failed.
The Disk cleanup idea worked nicely, thanks to N.R.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
