I have XP pro. Some how my HP printer was deleted and everytime i click the control panel pinters and faxes i get and " operation coulkd not be completed " error?

what is that?

I hope you are not using a usb connection. Assuming you are not, let me suggest the following:

1) In Printers & Faxes (Control Panel), delete the printer if it exists.

2) Shut Down the system

3) Unplug the printer from the computer

4) Reboot

5) Shut down the computer

6) Reconnect the printer to the computer

7) Reboot

Hopefully XP will now recognize the printer. If not, I'm sorry - but this couldn't have taken more than a couple of minutes.

have you messed around with any registry settings or services?

yeah , that was what i thought too , some registry keys were corrupted .

i didn't do nothing with the registry or a service.
it is a usb printer.

What's wrong with USB? Just curious.

I have an HP P1000 (Photosmart). I'm experiencing the same problem. It's more of an annoyance than a problem. I did not uninstall my printer. It was simply removed by itself. lol Device Manager said my printer was still installed, but the control panal applet said I have no printer. :( Someone find the problem, please! lol

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
