I need to know, what is it. I searched it on google, didn't really find much. Something about RSS feeds that are MP3's? Should I be interested, what's the whole big thing about it pretty much.

Ahh.. the wonders of Wikipedia

Basically it combines an audio file (usually an MP3), with the wonders of syndication (usually an RSS feed). So it's sort of like running a radio show.

Then there is vidcasting, which is obviously with video files.

Meh, I never really got into podcasting, but some people love it.

It's not really streaming.. you download whole broadcasts that can be played offline.
