pesky printers

This is more an annoyance than anything else ... but ... i run 2 printers off a standalone pc running WinXP ... an HP Laserjet 5L on the lpt1 port and an Epson inkjet 880 on a usb port. Sometimes while running a big job - normally from an Office XP app ... say 10 pages or more ... the print will go fuzzy ... at first i thought it was a cartridge problem ... but both printers do it ... and pretty randomly .... its starting to bug the hell outta me ... i've reloaded the printer drivers umteen times and reinstalled XP too, but no improvement ...has anybody else had this happen? and ideas on what to do???
