ENTHUSIASTS AT a Japanese Web site claimed they had taken the Intel Pentium 4 to the dizzying clock speed of 3.5GHz.
The current official speed of the Pentium 4 is 2.2GHz, but processor roadmaps show that it will reach speeds of greater than 2.53GHz during the course of the year.

The lads and lasses at Gamestar - a sister site to our pals at tecchannel.de, point to a Japanese site which managed to clock the chip "for a short time" to 3.541.87GHz with the help of our old friend nitrogen cooling.

An Abit TH7-II, 128MB of memory and an ancient Matrox Millennium were all part of the overclocking mix.

You can find the Gamester take on the resultshere

Meanwhile, there's some interesting information at this German Site about the power draw on Pentium 4 mobile parts.
