pc speed

    i have PackardBell 2.0 Ghz Imedia with windows XP home edition and my friend has windows 98 taty pc and his is just as fast as mine . His, even faster in turning on and off. Is that how suppose to work? Cheers :( Xazy

    he might have a couple programs running that help with increasing speed as well as he may have overclocked his system and didnt tell you. he may also have more ram. there are many factors that go into pc speed.

    yeah, thats true, you might have more resources being taken up aswell !

    I thought Packard Bell went under a few years ago ?

    But system speed can vary from computer to computer. You might have lots of software installed that slows down your system.

    Or maybe even hardware for that matter.

    Shutdown and Startup times is not indicative of the speed of your computer. Overal, startup is usually faster for XP, but shutdown takes much much longer on XP, while in 98 shutdown is almost instant.

    When you say his computer is just as fast, could you explain in what applications?
