If you are talking about the Intel Application Accelerator then yes, it must be used with the INF Chipset Utility.

The most important thing about this update is that your hard drives will not run at UDMA Mode 5 without it.

    Definitely install both.

What is the difference between the Intel Application Accelerator and the INF Chipset Utility?

and where do you get each?

Certain chipsets are not correctly installed in ths OS. In such cases, you need to install Intel's chipset drivers using the INF utility. There is a table on the Intel site indicating which chipsets need the INF utility to be installed.

After that, you can install the Intel Application Accelerator.

Both are available on Intel's site.
