Open Source Software for Windows

Hi All,
This is my first post on this board, so I'd like to send my best to everybody here.

I'm a retired software developer, and I have seen quite a few of these open source products. I have tremendous respect and admiration for the developers who release these products to the general public, because they do what others often talk about: They give freely to others, without expecting monetary compensation. In these hard times, giving is a most difficult thing to do.

I have been using AbiWord, and ZipGenius for quite some time now. For what I use them for, they work great. Just by reading this thread, I have found a few more great products.

So, I'd like to say thank You for starting this thread. And, thank you for having me as a member of this fine web board.

It has a large amount of software information , downloads, infos, issues...etc.

I, for one, think is great.

Definitely it's useful, and the softwares i'm using most are opensource software except the System Software :Windows XP.

The VLC media player is certainly a good one. I copied some of my DVDs and on some would not have any audio. Nero wanted me to buy something additional from them that "might" work! VLC played them just fine. THANKS
