Hi all until now i have been happily using mp3s and (depending on track of course) i usually cannot tell much difference from a minimum of 128kbs.
I thought after listerning to you chaps hype the .ogg format to give it a whirl so what is the full software kit i need for this
i would prefer a single package, but it must have cddb (or simular) support. Also what is the recommended bit rate and should i do variable/ constant bitrate etc...

    cheers:happy:

I don't know of what bitrate is best, but I use jetAudio for my conversion/ripping tasks. It also supports ogg, so you might wanna give it a try.

CDex is the program you want.

Rips and encodes to Ogg with no effort needed

Use quality setting 4 if you want to stay in the 128 kbps area.

quality setting 5 for 160 kbps if u feel up to some aural pleasure =)
