NHL 2003 startup problem

hiZ ppl!

I've got a small problem with nhl 2003.. i hit the enter key and the loading begins.. then some sort of intro should appear, 'cause I only see wmp9beta toolbar and the rest of the screen is pitch black.. I cannot start the game by pressing any key nor by associating mplayer2.exe to open all my files.. wmp9beta still tries to load it

Yupp it's Windows Media Player 9 Beta's fault
