New Hiv Strain

As for those who want to let HIV/AIDS patients just "flounder" on their own, that wouldn't be advisable. They'll be incubators for other diseases that you could catch. Tuberculosis? Up until the 1980s, the disease was relatively wiped out. HIV/AIDS is responsible for its comeback.

Think about that.

I dont think its a waste money, medical research is needed and helps in a lot of ways.. I think people should have a choice in the matter on if and when they want treatment and how long it should last. The cattle markets are terrible what a way to end what was once a beautiful life. Aids well I dont think that is the reason that Tuberculosis is showing up I believe it is the fact we have abused our antibiotics and are down to the last known strain and now because Dr's have been handing it out like candy to kids we have the super bacteria's .. like the super rats that can eat rat poision they have been getting dose's for too long and now they are imune.

Your both correct
One factor in the rising TB trend in both the developed and the developing world is HIV infection, which weakens the immune system. One third of deaths of those who are HIV-positive are TB related. Those with HIV are 100 times more likely to develop TB than other members of the population. Other people who are at risk from the disease include those with diabetes, the malnourished, alcoholics, and IV drug users.
Another aspect in the resurgence of the disease is the development of drug resistant strains which now affect up to 50 million people. These strains can be created by bad medical practice such as over-prescribing antibiotics or patients not taking the drugs long enough to get rid of the disease. Instead this encourages the bacteria to become tougher.

antiobiotic-resisitant bacteria, "super" rats, insecticide-resistant insects...
a) nothing much to do with aids/hiv... but
b) it's all due to chance mutations in one, that then survived tobreed. Not doctor's faults that these resistant bacteria havecome about. It's simple natural selection unfortunately - thesehave that selectional advantage in these antibiotic environments.. onlyreason they've come about and reproduced. It can't be blamed ondoctors, prescribing antibiotics; "handing it out like candy to kids".

Your right,he was the one brought up cancer in thesame breath as HIV/AIDS and thats what I take issues with.Cancer hasaffected members of my family, young (He died aged 39 leaving to youngchildren behind)and older (aunt 62,she survived, father in law aged 52who sadly died)and I find it sickening to hear somebody say that theyshould have been left to die and not given a chance to survive.
We shouldn't even be having this conversation as it has nothing whatsoever to do with the treatment of HIV/AIDS

I'm sorry to hear all that :(

Yeah, this thread's gone off HIV/AIDs anyways.. it's gone..

HIV/AIDs -> Cancer -> MRSA surrounded by the sick ethics inbetween.

If someone close to me was (possibly) fatally ill.. I'd give anythingto see them not suffer/give them what time they could have...

I don't know how you could seriously say otherwise...

yes it can be blamed on doctors and people not following the dr's orders and the new HIV is natures way of population control sad but true we will die one day we all die one day.

This wouldn't work. What if 25 days ago they got checked, and 24 days ago they contracted something? Or, what if they have AIDS. Sometimes HIV/AIDS can take as long as 60 days before it's detectable. I just think you should play it safe.

Seems to work in the porn industry, why will it not work for the normal human being?

O wait, a normal human being gets drunk, and øøøøs any walking thing, whereas a porn star is wide awake, and knows what the øøøø is going on. Really, that is the problem with society, we have so many kids getting drugged up, drunk and then having sex unprotected.

Yes and when they do and the drug users and they get HIV then we are spose to feel sorry?

No sorry in todays world we are all very aware and unless it is by ACCIDENT and I dont mean get drunk and fall down and land in some girl's @@@@ then I dont feel sorry for them at all.

Actually, the over-use of anti-biotics has had a lot to do with anti-biotic resistent strains comming about. Given the rate at which bacterial cells can multiply and also how easy it is for them to mutate (there are certain "checks" in place in DNA replication in eukariotic cells, which doesn't take place in prokariotic gene replication) they are able to evolve more quickly. But the "aim" is towards survival, and the over-use of anti-biotics/improper use can result in them developing resistence.

A few matters to consider:

- Antibiotics work by hindering some biological process which is necessary to the continued survival of a bacterial cell. Viruses are not technically alive, and carry out no biological processes on their own, to be hindered. Viruses are essentially a strand of DNA, or RNA (with reverse transcriptionase) in the case of a retro-virus, which is surrounded by a protein coat. There is no cell membrane, no organelles, no matabolism, or other cell machinery involved in it's "survival". The protein coat, has a given recognition site, which can attach itself to a given site (a sort of 3-dimention "lock and key" sorta mechanism, where it "fits into" the right recognition site in a cell. There it can transfer it's DNA into the cell, and after inserting it's DNA, take the cell over, re-directing it's life processes to the creation of more viruses.

There's an important thing here, as anti-biotics do absolutely nothing in fighting off a viral infection, but can only fight off bacterial infections. Doctors are also more careful now, in prescribing anti-biotics.

- When people are prescribed a course of anti-biotics, but stop taking it when they start to feel better, it has only managed to kill off the the less resistent microbes first. To stop taking it pre-maturely is to allow the stronger microbes to re-produce and come back, with a strain that is more resistent. Reason they tell people to complete the dose, even if they do feel better in a few days (which if it's working as it should, they will). Feeling better in this case, doesn't mean all the disease causing bacteria are gone yet, however...

- Having a low dose of anti-biotics in our milk and what not is not exactly a good thing...

- One final matter. All microbes are not bad. Though some cause disease, there is also a certain amount of healthy intestinal floura in our gut, which we have formed a symbiotic relationship with. Antibiotics kill off all bacteria indiscriminitely, including the healthy bacteria in our gut.

Some of the things this intestinal floura does for us:

* Helps with digestion. For instance in the digestion of lactose (milk sugar), our bodies don't directly digest it, itself. The intestinal floura (lacto-bacilli organisms specifically) break the milk sugar down into something our bodies can use...

* Produces vitamin K, which is very much involved in our blood clotting ability, when we get cut. We don't need to necessarily supplement vitamin K in our diets however, because the healthy bacteria in our gut produce it for us.

* Gives us another layer of immunity. The healthy bacteria is able to deal with some of the disease killing bacteria/help kill it off for us. And unlike the anti-biotics we can injest, the bacteria in our gut is also capable of evolving "a new form of attack" if you will...

When one needs antibiotics for something, it isn't always a bad idea to follow the taking of anti-biotics with some aciphodopholis or something (one can get it by eating yogurt as well) to help replenish the "good type" of bacteria that resides in our gut, but not at the same time...

I would just like to say that aids does not descriminate. If we believethat only gay and drug users get it is wrong. cheating wives andhusbands get it. one drink and people get in the mood. it's a shame howthis virsu is infected mass people yet we are really blind about thefact that the beauty over their wants me so i am gonna have some fun.oh i'll donate later.

well the beauty had sex 6 months ago with a guy who had sex with another who slept with virus victim. anyway

it's best to stay with the one you love till death do you part.

I lost my virginity in high school so i guess i'm gonna be alone causei don't have anyone atm and i don't want to get drunk and have sex witha victim.

:(

Didn't the porn industry in LA shut itself down for a few months because one male actor gave HIV to 3 other actors. I think they test every 3 or 4 weeks, but it's not enough in an industry like that.

...

Trying to combat HIV not only helps in fighting HIV/AIDS but also helps in the fight for other virus's that are hard to get rid of. The amount of 'innocent' people contracting the virus grows every day. Worst of all is the amount of children in Africa that are born with it.

I think Anti-biotics are over used as people tend to want them when they have a cold or something yet they have no effect because a cold or flu is a virus. Our immune systems are down the pan these day's. We don't let our kids eat a bit of toast if it falls on the floor but when I was young, oh so many moons ago :), well not that long ago, my parents told me to eat it and stop complaining or I wouldn't get my £1 pocket money for the week!!!

What's wrong with young love Evil Marge, "who brought the prude to the party" :)

GSK, says they are very close to a vaccine for HIV (aids isn't a disease), but due to all the red tape, all the testing they have to go through, it will take 10yrs to release it. Sad fact.

Also if you catch HIV today you are likely to be able to live a relatively normal life with all the drugs they now have, in the 80's and early 90's you'd have a lifespan of 5-10yrs on diagnosis, now you will probably be more like a diabetic patient, having to go in for regular treatments.

As for TB, the reason it has returned has to do with HIV, with strain-resistant bugs, and more to do with complacency, as the world thought they had wiped it out they stopped campaigning for a widespread use of the vaccine, which brought about the resurgence in Africa, with immigrants bringing it over, when they claimed asylum in the UK, Europe and America.

Whats that has to do with getting drunk, sleeping around, catching an STD and passing it on at the age of 15?

I met my hubby when I was 15 actually and we're still together 20 years later :lick:

Nice to hear that marge, i love to hear when two people have made it for so long. :)
