network cable

    i have a home network and i have a cat5 cable running to my computer. i just got an ext for it so i can plug in a longer cable. is it ok if i use a cat6 cable for the ext.? thank you.

    if i do connect a cat6 cable to it would i see a difference in speed of transfers and internet?
