Nero Mp3plugin only encodes joint stereo?

    how do you encode mp3's in stereo. the nero mp3pro plugin seems to only encode mp3s in Joint Stereo format

    from what I have read I think joint stereo is better ...

    isn't join stereo just mono?
    I could be wrong, but thats what it sounds like.

    joint stereo is a mix between mono (1 channel) and stereo (2 channels). Joint stereo also uses 2 channels, but when on a point in the music file, the left and the right channel play the same music (like mono spread over 2 channels), those channels are combined into one stream, causing the file to be smaller.
